I take a high quality nutritional supplement as I believe they make me feel more energetic. Lots of mixed reviews about supplements out there, but I believe in them, and our food cannot possibly give us all that we need, even if we are very strict about what we eat. Often the quality of the food we buy leaves it lacking in nutrients.
This is a refreshing article to read, even though I am only in my 30’s. But stress gets into the way and sometimes, I feel like 60 when my body become exhausted. Ever since mom is diagnosed with diabetes, I’ve been limiting my intake on carbs and sugary stuff and opting more on fresh produce. It’s a hard habit to change since we rely on fast food nowadays, but I am getting there because my body can feel it.
For me, it’s all about aging gracefully and I intend to keep that mantra for as long as I can.

You know what they say, age is only a number!
The mindset of being old is being lazy and slow is actually because those people never exercise or go out and explore themselves. I’m only 28 and boy, I feel like I’m reaching an old age already because after working on the desk non-stop 14 hours a day, I barely have time to go out anymore and my energy level dropped drastically and I get tired easily too.
Compared to just last year, I was able to walk 10 kilometers a day and still feel energized to work an finish up deadlines with some time to go drinking at night. Humans are not meant to stay indoors long, the more we go out and explore the land with fresh air, the longer we live. That may be wrong but that’s my 2 cents 😀

I’m really taken by the section that suggests getting out and meeting new people – something my father hasn’t done now for quite some time. My mother gets worried that he’s stuck in his daily routine, that then runs into his nightly routine of a couple of glasses of red wine and TV etc…

Well Chris, maybe he enjoys his peace and tranquility during his retirement. But if he has a hobby you could encourage him to join up with a group of like minded people, even if just once a month, as people do need people.
I know a lot of retired people suddenly take up the game of bridge. This is an excellent way to keep the mind functioning well, as well as meet new people. These bridge clubs are all around and usually meet up once a week.

I liked your comparison with kids, who are constantly discovering new things. It’s a pitiful, that once we have a degree or reached a certain age, we we think, we know it all and block ourselves off from new experiences.
On the other side, I’ve seen people 70+, always up-to date with new technologies and the latest fashion trends. It’s all possible, we live in a time, where you are allowed to be a youthful senior.
