5 Reasons Why You Should Walk Every Day

Here are some excellent reasons why you should walk every day. We all know walking is a great form of exercise, as it is gentle on your joints, just about anybody can do it and it is free.

As we get older, it does get harder to get the motivation to exercise, but remember exercise keeps you young. The longer that you keep active, the easier your old age is going to be.

There are many benefits to walking every day, and some of them include, burning calories, improving your balance and coordination, improving your mood, and extending your life. But to me these are the most important reasons why you need to make walking a daily part of your life.

5 Reasons Why You Should Walk Every Day

why you should walk everyday1. High Blood Sugar

One small study found that breaking up a 45-minute walk into quick 15-minute intervals, 3 times a day (after every meal) helped to regulate blood sugar more effectively than a 45-minute walk in one go.

2. Heart Disease

Did you know that walking for just 30 minutes a day five days a week can lower your risk of heart disease by 19 percent?

This is wonderful news for all of you who hate running, but who still want to keep their heart healthy.

3. Anxiety

I wonder if you knew that a 10-minute walk can relieve stress and anxiety just as well as a 45-minute workout can? If you suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, I would suggest adding meditation to the mix.

4. Chest Infections

One study found that, in a group of 1 000 people, those who walked 30 to 45 minutes each day, had 43 percent less sick days and fewer upper respiratory tract infections compared to their sedentary peers.

5. Joint Pain

Spending hours sitting behind a desk takes its toll on your joints.

By walking you can improve the joint health of your hips, spine, knees, and ankles. Walking not only lubricates the joints but also strengthens the muscles that hold those joints in place. Strong muscles thus provide great support for your joints.

So why are you still reading this, it’s time to go for a walk!
